Come See!
New picture books will be found in the red spinner. Books for older children will be displayed on shelves in the front room. Paperback books are on the red cart in the front room while board books are on the bottom shelf of the red cart in the back room. Remember we have Explorer Packs, games, puzzles and puppets that may be borrowed.

Elementary school aged children may borrow picture books and easy readers as well as fiction, audio books, computer programs, puppets, and games. A wide range of nonfiction materials are available to help students with their school work and individual interests.

Games: Many of these are based on books such as Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, Lord of the Rings, Franklin and the Green Knight, The Lorax, The Cat in the Hat, and the Very Hungry Caterpillar. Each family may borrow 1 game at a time for two weeks.

Explorer Packs: This is a collection of backpacks with a themed collection of books, computer programs, puzzles, games, puppets, and/or manipulatives. These range in interest level from ABCs and Pirates for preschoolers to Electricity and Geology. Each family may borrow 1 backpack at a time for a week.

A section of the first floor has been set aside for Young Adult fiction. Here teens will find current award winners as well as their favorite authors. They will also find Young Adult audio books nearby.

Preschoolers will find board books and floor puzzles, and lots of story characters to play with at the library. There are also magnetic dolls to dress and play with. Folkmanis puppets with books that tell an interesting tale or meaningful facts about each puppet are available for borrowing. Picture books help increase a child’s speaking vocabulary and are helpful in learning about sequencing. There are also lots of computer programs which may be borrowed.

September Themes

PIRATES
We will be continuing focusing on PIRATES through September with craft projects and coloring sheets on hand. Stop in to see Gail and she will get you started with an activity. After reading 1 book, ask for a pirate tattoo! See our PIRATES Reading List.

SCHOOL
Returning to school is a great time of year for many people. Our SCHOOL Reading List features lots of picture books for those starting school for the first time as well as books that will make you re-live past experiences. Lots of these books are full of humorous incidents!

The third theme for September is CINDERELLA.
The Library has more than 25 Cinderella stories from around the world. Read any 3 and ask for a paper crown to take home. Check out our CINDERELLA Reading List.
