Using
the Internet:
If you would
like to learn how to use the Internet at the Dorset Library, sign
up for an individual lesson at the library on one of three topics:
Using a search engine; Sending email and cards; playing games.
If you have not used a computer very often, you will first need
to learn to control the computer mouse. This is best done by playing
a few games with children’s programs or solitaire. Its lots
of fun! Think about what you’d like to do on the Internet.
Would you like to write letters to family and friends, send greeting
cards, go shopping or look up information? The library provides
VOL, Vermont On Line, for Dorset residents. VOL gives you access
to health databases, magazine databases, and several levels of
research. If you have children in school, you will certainly want
to be able to use this service. Children as young as first grade
will find interesting information on the Internet.
Book
Sale and More!
We
sell weeded books, donations, older magazines, video tapes, audio
books, book bags and more.
Volunteers:
The library
would appreciate volunteers. We need friendly people to shelve
books, help people on the computers, create displays in the children’s
room, work at the Book Sale, help with the winter and spring inventory,
stamp cards to send to the State Dept. of Libraries, gather materials
for the school, and do other tasks that will help the library
go smoother. If you can volunteer for 2 – 3 hours once a
week or once a month, please sign up at the library.
