The Dorset Village Library offers many services for adults.

Fiction
& Large Print
– The Dorset Library provides a wide selection of current
fiction in both regular and large print formats. Also available
are audio books on cassettes and CDs. The fiction collection consists
of more than 1,000 titles. Each month two or three books by new
authors are purchased. If a book has a clear red spine label,
you can be sure that it is the author’s first novel and
that it has been highly recommended. Other clear labels help you
locate the genre of book you prefer – yellow indicates historical
fiction, light blue indicates LARGE PRINT, dark green points out
mystery books, while orange specifies science fiction and fantasy.

Nonfiction
– The library has a small but up-to-date non-fiction
collection. Some nonfiction books are added to the collection
each month on topics of current interest. In addition, each
month we focus on a particular topic to update. Recent highlighted
topics include autism, Islam, and the environment and global
warming.

unabridged editions of audio books whenever possible. If you damage
or lose a tape or CD, you need to replace the audio book.
The Dorset Library is proud to be a member of Listen Up!
Vermont so that Dorset residents may download audio books
to their computers and then onto a portable audio device. To
access Listen Up, Vermont, click on this link: http://www.listenupvermont.org.
Very
recently, the Dorset Library has joined Recorded
Books One-Click which offers over 2,000 audio books with
no holds. To access this site, go to http://gmlc.wordpress.com/recorded-books/.

Magazines
– The Library subscribes to more than 75 magazines which
may be borrowed for a week.
ILL
– If there is a book that we
do not have, most adult books are available somewhere else
in Vermont. You can find out if a book is available
by going to Inter-Library
Loan.
While
we do not charge for this service; it costs about $6 per
book for mailing the book to our library and returning it
which the Library must underwrite.
